Abstract

The checkweigher conveyor is a type of conveyor that has the function of moving goods from one place to another while weighing the weight of the goods being moved. One of the problems with the checkweigher conveyor is when the load on the conveyor is too heavy which causes the conveyor speed to slow down so that it can slow down the process time of moving goods. In this final project, a fuzzy logic control system is designed to regulate the speed of the DC motor that drives the checkweigher conveyor. The designed system consists of a set of conveyors with DC motor drives, encoder sensors, weight sensors using load cells, Arduino Mega controllers, and DC motor drivers. The encoder sensor will send the actual speed data of the conveyor motor to the controller to be compared with the specified reference speed of 120 rpm. The error signal and speed delta error will be input to the fuzzy logic controller. Each error input and speed delta error are fuzzyified into five membership functions to be processed in 25 fuzzy rules. The Sugeno fuzzy defuzzification process is carried out using the weighted average method to calculate the PWM value used to regulate the speed of the conveyor motor. Testing was conducted by giving different loads to the conveyor. The test results showed that with varying loads, the checkweigher conveyor with a speed controller using fuzzy logic can move goods in a faster time than the checkweigher conveyor without a fuzzy logic controller.
