Oil Level Control System in the Tank of a Nylon Yarn Spinning Machine

Abstract

In industrial applications, oils play a very important role. This type of fluid has a very many functions, one of which is from the circulation system, cooling the engine and protecting from friction of engine parts. Therefore, the amount of oil in the engine must be monitored properly so that the engine is maintained and has a long life. One fairly simple technique that can be done to monitor the oil level is to look directly at the level indicator on the engine. This method becomes more difficult when there are many machines and at a long distance. So the monitoring process always takes a lot of time because the check is carried out with a manual technique by opening the tank cap and seeing the oil level directly with the naked eye. Based on this problem, in this study, an oil level control system was designed along with an oil monitoring system. The oil monitoring system is designed using a touch of the Internet of Things (IoT) with the help of the Blynk platform application. Various parameters can be monitored using this application such as the current oil level, oil volume, as well as the condition of the pump used as well as various other auxiliary parameters. The system is designed using hardware such as ultrasonic sensors, relays, pumps, buzzer led and solenoid valves, as well as an ESP8266 microcontroller as the main controller. The control system used is an on-off control system where the pump will be activated when the oil level is below 20 percent, the pump will be off when the oil level is above 90 percent and the solenoid valve will be activated when it is above 90 percent. The test results showed that the sensor reading had a reading error of 0.074 cm. In addition, the error rate of calculating the oil level is at a value of 0.414 percent.
