Abstract

The development of a modern market in Panongan District, Tangerang Regency, aims to accommodate the community's need for a more comfortable, organized, and hygienic trading facility. This study seeks to design a modern market with an approach based on tropical modern architecture, which adapts to Indonesia's tropical climate while creating a sustainable and eco-friendly environment. The methods used in this research include site analysis, user needs assessment, and the study of tropical modern architecture applied in market design. This analysis results in a design concept that emphasizes natural ventilation, natural lighting, and the use of environmentally friendly local materials. The design also considers aspects of functionality, comfort, and aesthetics to enhance the market's appeal to both traders and visitors. The research findings indicate that the application of tropical modern architecture in market design can effectively address the challenges posed by the tropical climate while creating a comfortable and efficient market environment. Additionally, the resulting design is expected to boost the local economy and positively impact the development of the Panongan area.
